Sienna Llorens is a sophomore and varsity base on both the sideline and competition cheer teams at Mira Costa High School. After two years of practicing under Covid-19 protocols, Mira Costa cheer won eighth in the nation at the national cheerleading competition in Orlando in March 2022. Sienna says it takes power and strength to be a cheerleader. As a base, she puts girls up in the air and protects them from falling. If she makes a mistake, it could cost a life so she has to be focused at all times. Now that the mask mandate was lifted and testing is optional, Sienna says they are relieved to be able to see each others expressions and be a normal team again.
